“Joyful Thanks” is the theme of this year’s
Jubilee celebration of the Sisters of the Divine Savior. A Mass
of Thanksgiving will be offered at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart
School of Theology Chapel on Saturday, June 26. A dinner
reception for family and friends will follow in the Seminary
Dining Room. Celebrating sixty years of religious profession
are: Sisters Maria Elena Arias, Jean Marie Hauck, Teresa Rebholz
and Patricia Wieloch.
Sister Patricia Wieloch, SDS, was born in
Wausau, Wisconsin. Her parents, Jacob and Regina Wieloch, and
their three children were members of St. Michael’s Parish in
Wausau.
Sister remembers meeting the Salvatorian
Sisters at the then St. Mary’s Hospital where her mother worked.
She was drawn to religious life because of a deep desire to care
for people and the emphasis on prayer. From 1950-1976, she
ministered in Cadott, Columbus, Wausau and Milwaukee, all in
Wisconsin, and in Sisseton, South Dakota as a cook and doing
various domestic responsibilities. She then lived and was the
coordinator of St. Mary’s Convent in St. Nazianz, Wisconsin.
Since 1983, she has been a certified
nursing assistant at Divine Savior Healthcare (DSH) in Portage,
Wisconsin. She enjoys caring for residents at the DSH Extended
Care facility.
She is a member of St. Mary’s Parish,
Portage.
Reflecting on the past sixty years, Sister
Patricia, said, “I have had time for prayer and helping others.
Because we Sisters live in community, we are able to care about
and support one another. We also learn how to be open to many
different types of persons.” |
